Do not try to jump the car by trying to get it fixed, you keep on jumping the battary, you will damage the Brain of your car. Car runs off a computer, so if you jump the car too many times, you will need to replace the computer in your car too...Go to auto Zone or any parts house, and give them the year make and model of your car and replace the alternator. Please remember before doing anything to the car take off both Positive and Negitive terminals to the Battary before working on it.

You need to buy a charger at walmart to charge the battary. The above guy is wrong i'm afraid.

Discharging a battery then re charging it actually prolongs battery life. It will do the battery good. Most likely it will die on you soon and you definitely will need another jump once you shut it off. if you get it totally recharged it will last longer, but that is still not the answer. You should have the electrical charging system checked and replace the alternator/battery per the results of the test. Car batteries are not designed to be drained empty and then recharged. Doing this too often will damage the battery and severely decrease it's power.

If your alternator is dead and/or not working properly a jump start will not get you very far. Your battery may be salvagable, depends on how many times that bad alternator drained it. Have it tested at Autozone or Sears.

You will need a new alternator.
