My uncle owned a full service station right after WW2. I loved hanging out there. He had the penny peanut machines and icy cold coke in the small bottles. I was about 4 in 57 and he aquired the most beautiful candy apple red 1953 buick, I cant remember the make but ot was huge and had shinny crome all over it. The car also had strips of white. The interior was mosly white leather with red strips. They covered it in the plastic seat covers. One day he wanted to take me out for lunch. I went tearing over and jumped right in the car. Hot summer day, no air. I let out a yelp that was probably heard downtown. Uncle Joe fixed it up with some towels for me to set on. What a great man with a great car. Thanks for the memory. On a hot day they were terrible because most cars had no a/c. They also came on the furniture we but old sheets over them to keep the plastic clean, so 50's, early 60's. We still have that furniture and it looks good. My grandmother's "ART DECO" bedroom set is still holding up too. Sure do and after a while they would yellow.
